  • The Shihpoo is a charming designer breed that combines the intelligence of the Poodle with the very friendly personality of the Poodle. Both parent breeds require regular grooming and daily brushing to prevent matting.

     

    The Shihpoo can be a bit clingy so this is a breed that would not be left behind at home and would enjoy going for a car ride.
    Shihpoo is a playful and energetic breed that playing with toys and learning new tricks.

Is a Shihpoo a good pet? Yes! The Shihpoo is a friendly, lovable, and playful companion dog that would enjoy keeping you company.

Does a Shihpoo bark a lot? Both Shih Tzu and Poodle are known for being vocal. They make great watchdogs alerting you to every noise they hear.

Are Shihpoo dogs hypoallergenic?No dogs are truly hypoallergenic, but as a cross with a Poodle, Shihpoos are allergy-friendly and low-shedding.

The Shihpoo is a small cross of the Poodle and the Shih Tzu with an average lifespan of 10-15 years. While designer breeds like the Shihpoo are considered healthier when compared to their purebred counterparts, they can still be predisposed to inherit some of the same health conditions. With proper care and yearly vet exams, the majority of Shihpoos will live long and healthy lives. While most Shihpoos will not encounter these health issues it is important to know them, monitor your dog for any physical or behavioral changes, and contact your veterinarian with any concerns.
